While you wait
Stop running water anywhere in the house, including the washing machine and the dishwasher. A main line that is already full has nowhere to put more.
If water is coming up through a floor drain or a shower, that is usually the main line rather than the fixture, and it will not clear on its own.
Find your cleanout if you know where it is, usually outside near the foundation, and clear whatever is parked or stacked in front of it. It saves time on arrival.
What we will ask you
- Which fixtures are affected, and whether it is one or all of them.
- Whether it has happened before, and how long ago.
- Whether you are on a septic tank or a city sewer.
- Your town, so we know the drive.
